Average girl tries 'Filter' by Mollie Mae

Okay, Okay I know I'm behind with reviewing this product. But fake tan is something I'm quite new too and I wanted to make sure I was getting it right before I wrote about it, but here it is. It's been well tested and I'm ready to spill the tea and share my thoughts on it.

When I first saw Mollie Mae announce that she was working on something exciting, I had my suspicions that it would be a fake tan so when it officially launched it went straight in my basket. So let’s talk about the basics first such as the price, packaging and what’s on offer. Being quite a pale ghostly individual, I was a little intimidated by the fact that the only two shades available were Dark and Extra dark, I thought it was quite a risky move and that she may be missing out catering for the paler of us population. But I have to say as soon as I tried it, I soon found that this tan is so adaptable and you're really able to control or light or dark you want it to go!

The price for the tan by itself is £19.99 which I think is a reasonable price for the 250ml bottle especially when you compare it to brands such as Bondi sands (£17.99 200ml bottle) and the St Tropez (£30.50 240ml bottle). As part of the collection several pieces have been released including the Dark/extra dark tanning mousse £19.99, mini velvet mitt £6.99, large velvet mitt £9.99 and some bundle packages ranging from £31-£38. All in all, I think the collection is priced really well, it’s a perfect go to if you're looking for great quality products without breaking the bank.

So I went for the Dark tanning Mousse, and may I just say the packaging is BEAUTIFUL! It comes in a gorgeous nude coloured tube with a gold rim around the top, and the branding as a whole is just so minimalistic which I love! In terms of application it’s pretty straight forward, you simply have to shake the bottle for a minute or two to activate the tan into a gorgeous mousse. And simply apply!

What I love about this tan is that it has a guide colour which makes it so much easier to see where you've applied, and the places you may have missed and it gives you an idea of what the colour is going to turn out like. which gives you just that little bit extra control over how dark you may want it to go. It develops between 4 to 10 hours but with the guide colour you do notice a difference straight away.

In terms of transferring onto your clothes, I tend to just leave my tan to dry for around 5 minutes and getting into my comfy’s as I always apply it to sit overnight and so far I've had no issues with it transferring which is something I've struggled with previously whilst using other tans. And finally, how long does the tan last before giving your skin a tiger loaf like appearance? One thing I was really impressed with is how long it lasts. you can get away with around 5 days of it looking completely natural and fresh before it starts turning into tiger loaf which I think is a great amount of time.

It's fair to say that I'm super impressed with this tan, and I can't see myself switching to anything else anytime soon and I'm so excited to see what else Molly Mae has up her sleeve!

Have you tried the Mollie Mae tan? What are your thoughts?
