TOP THREE CHRISTMAS MOVIE PICKS

Monday, 4 December 2017

If you're a great lover of Christmas then you're sure to be a great lover of Christmas movies. These are what winter is about, getting snuggled up on the sofa with your other half, your family or just your friends in general. Sipping a hot chocolate and watching something magical to capture your spirit ready for the big day... (Christmas day that is). But if you've never really been one to sit down and watch them or just haven't found anything that takes your fancy then here's my top three movie picks for you!

1. The holiday.

Without a doubt the holiday has got to be my number one Christmas movie, I know its not something that exactly springs to mind when you think of this festive season but it is in fact based around this magical time of the year. In my opinion it hasn't received half the attention it deserves as it includes one of the most incredible casts I've seen in a film before, Kate Winslet, Jack Black, Cameron Diaz and Jude Law - with all of these starring in it what more could you want?

As described by IMDB.. 'In London, Iris Simpkins writes a wedding column in a newspaper and nurtures an unrequited love for her colleague Jasper Bloom. Near Christmas, she is informed that Jasper is engaged to marry another colleague, and her life turns upside down. In Los Angeles, the movie-trailers maker Amanda Woods has just split with her unfaithful boyfriend Ethan and wants to forget him. Through a house exchange website, Amanda impulsively swaps her mansion for Iris' cottage in Surrey for the holidays. While in Surrey, Amanda meets Iris' brother and book editor Graham and they fall in love with each other. Meanwhile, Iris meets her new next door neighbor the ninety year old screenplay writer Arthur, who helps her retrieve her self-esteem, and the film composer Miles, with whom she falls in love. 2. Christmas in wonderland.

Now this is a feel good little Christmas movie that I'd be surprised if many of you had heard off, I found this little gem on the one day that I paid attention out of the many days that my mum used to leave the Christmas movie channel on 24/7 every single year. A film staring one of my favourite past time actors that is Patrick Swayze.

As described by IMDB.. 'It's turning out to be a pretty rotten Christmas for the Saunders family. Having just moved to a new city from Los Angeles, they have no friends, no money and, with the exception of the bright-eyed Mary, no Christmas spirit. To make matters worse, their mother is stuck in L.A., stranded by airline overbookings. So, the Christmas shopping duties fall on Dad and the gloomy kids. Things start looking a bit more like Christmas when 12-year old Brian and 6-year old Mary find a satchel of money at the local mall and they launch a Yuletide shopping spree...that is, until the crooks who counterfeited the money chase them through the mall packed with holiday shoppers.' 3. The nightmare before Christmas.

Now this has always confused me of whether its a Halloween film or a Christmas film, but as the two seasons are pretty close to each other I guess you can't complain ether way. A masterpiece and something interesting and different even for a childish twenty year old like me Tim Burton has done it yet again with smashing out a great film.

As described by IMDB.. 'Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Halloween Town, is bored with doing the same thing every year for Halloween. One day he stumbles into Christmas Town, and is so taken with the idea of Christmas that he tries to get the resident bats, ghouls, and goblins of Halloween town to help him put on Christmas instead of Halloween -- but alas, they can't get it quite right.'
